AOTD

Art of the Day is by Matt Furie,
from San Francisco. His stuff is really insane, so it's not for the faint of art. Haha. But check out his cool free wallpaper, it's pretty tame.

MacHam

I don't want a hamster, but this is kindof giving me a reason to get one. Fabulous. A pet that lives in a tiny modern house.
[how to make the MacHam]

It's finally snowing proper in Ballard!

Yaaay!!!
I don't take responsibility for that huge light-up wreath on the other side of our house. And any excuse to take pictures of my car.

AOTD

AOTD by Jen Shifflet. Her work seemed appropriate during our "snow storm 2006".

Strange.

House I grew up in, looking all gorgeous in the snow.
....aaaand then someone dropped off a stolen car and set it on fire.
What? The holidays are crazy.

Ok, I need a moment.

I had to post this for anyone who hasn't seen this article yet:

AOTD

Interesting blurb from LostAtEMinor's interview with Japanese illustrator Yuko Shimizu.

Um, what? I want this.

"The instructions are pretty simple. All you do is add potting soil to the green sewer-pipe-shaped flower pot, and push the spores deep into it. Soak the soil with water using the dropper, add a squirt of the food solution, and then it's off to a dark location for a few weeks....To our surprise, what you see in the photo above is what greeted us - a perfect 1up mushroom."

yeah, take that Lexus.

Art snob t-shirts.

Awesome t-shirts from Imaginary Foundation.

Wacky.

This is all fascinating and I don't know why. Michael Hughes is compiling photos taken of him holding tacky souvenirs superimposed over their actual tourist attractions.

Crafts

This is why I don't understand people who get bored: if I ever had time to get bored, after I watched all the movies in my netflix que (finally), there'd be about 1,000 crafts I'd love to do. Because I'm a huge nerd. But jeeze, who has time to carve intricate lace pumpkins? I wish I did.

AOTD

Totally strange, precise, beautiful, disturbing commentary. I love these paintings by Josh Keyes - textbook-ish/diarama-style. [Josh Keyes website]

Ok, that's it.

I have to work from home some day. I'm so jealous of all these people. BTW, On My Desk is a totally fascinating blog. I can't wait to have my own "studio". I think I have to get a "house" first though.

The biggest deal ever.

OMG people. This is a totally HUGE deal. Luke and Laura are getting married today!!! AGAIN!!!

"There had never been a more influential soap opera moment than Luke and Laura’s wedding. There never will be again."

AOTD: Salvation Mtn.

Artists are crazy. And weird. And fabulous.

Best Part of T-giving

It's time to get excited. I loves me a parade. Here's the poster for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade illustrated by Dan Santat. He explains the step-by-step process he went through making it. It's a pretty cute poster. More of Dan's cool art can be found on his blog [dantat.com]

Pimp out that old Ikea lamp

When I look at my paper ikea lamp I think: dorm. But this is a cool way to pimp it out so it's badass again! [from Craft]

This website is hilarity.

BAH!

I think I just died and went to heaven because now I've found artist Deth P. Sun from Oalkland, CA!!! Wow. The perfect overdose of weird and cute. I have to stop looking at it, it's hurting my eyes. Check out the artist's explanation of the bottom painting here.

Not your average band shot.

Uncommonly non-douchey rock photos from Sydney based photographer, Daniel Boud.

I'm so happy.

Art of the Day

Truly fantastic weird/cute art from Susie Ghahremani. This is from her upcoming show, BIRD CALL, happening at Giant Robot, in Los Angeles. So if you're going to be in LA, I recommend checking it out. If you're not going to be in LA, you can always puruse her shop for her custom bags and gifts.

South Touraine Chateau

Very sweet, humble little manse. I see this as a weekend hideaway. Of course I'd have to pimp the interior, as with any proper manse. But would annyone like to join me for tea?

"1H south of Tours, full of charm chateau offering ca 700 smq / 7700 sqft of living area (8 bedrooms) entirely restored with beautiful parquet floors, wood panelling and fireplaces - Attic and vaulted cellars - Large outbuildings - 3 ha of land with 12x6m heated pool"

[South Touraine Chateau]

Hey mom, look what I made!

I just made this comic using the strip generator, from Zek Advance, a street art and design team from Slovenia.

Yup. It's definitely fall.

Again? Really?

Someone over at Metroblogging must have a grudge something fierce against the Mars Hill church, because they just can't stop posting about how awful it is. I think church is a good, safe place and I'm not hatin' on it. But that being said, pastor Driscoll's latest was too good not to share:

"Most pastors I know do not have satisfying, free, sexual conversations and liberties with their wives. At the risk of being even more widely despised than I currently am, I will lean over the plate and take one for the team on this. It is not uncommon to meet pastors' wives who really let themselves go; they sometimes feel that because their husband is a pastor, he is therefore trapped into fidelity, which gives them cause for laziness. A wife who lets herself go and is not sexually available to her husband in the ways that the Song of Songs is so frank about is not responsible for her husband's sin, but she may not be helping him either."

Again, I'm just sayin'.
