List & Comment Friday: People I'd Like to Meet

Everyone has that one person they'd get star struck over if they actually met them in person. I only have a few who I worship that would actually make me speechless - here's hoping we get bumped to first class tonight and that Martha and Cher are also on their way to Montana (totally could happen!).
Who would you just die to meet?

I don't know if you noticed but it's hot in Seattle

I know that everyone in Vegas and on the East Coast is making fun of us for complaining right now, but see the thing is...no one in Seattle has air conditioning. Anyway...

Did you know that you can make money selling a book about "Kitty Wigs?" I had no idea. I'm going to start work on my "Ferret Vests" book tonight.

Speaking of kitties, this cat, Maru, is pretty special. Check out his YouTube page. It's worth it.

And speaking of animals, there is something in the air over at The Smithsonian National Zoo. Within 24 hours, a clouded leopard cub, a Przewalski's horse, and a red panda cub were all born. Check out their Fickr page and their "baby boom" of endangered animals.

Whadda Manse

I've got a new manse for y'all: The Hart Lodge, New Zealand.

"The creative vision for The Hart Lodge emerged from a passion for influential French interior designers and historical formal European gardens.

The lodge proudly stands on a ridge overlooking a valley offering panoramic vistas of a vibrant green landscape beset with leafy trees displaying a mélange of seasonal colours. The formal French flavour i's evident with a variety with charming water fountains, clipped hedges, urns and axial walkways."

You can fly in on your helicopter - not too shabby!

Sometimes I love the '70s

It's so tacky that I'm in love with wallpaper murals. I really want one of a bamboo forest or a beach in my bedroom. Diggin' the all-white bed with the patterned background. It would also totally complete my future awesome 70's basement party room. Pin ball and everything! {buy any mural you can think of}

List & Comment Friday: Back to the Future

Sometimes I think about how lucky we are and my mind is blown. I have my love, my family, my friends and my city(ies) and that's about all a girl could ask for. Planning for the future is also something that I think a lady just can't help herself from. "Goals" are just rolling around in my head all the time...
......................................................
My List of Wishes for the Future:
- Some day, a house
- Perhaps that house comes with a dog
- And perhaps it is a place where we know our neighbors, and have neighborly impromptu potlucks
- And then perhaps we are able to entertain friends and family in that house and get a dining table the keeps needing more and more extension leaves added to it at Thanksgiving
- I'd like to make more of a career for myself/run my own business/invent something
- Live a creative life for myself and my family
- Be healthy - enough already!
- I want our parents to live long so that our kids can know them - they're awesome
- I still want to get brunch and coffee on weekends with my man from now until till forever
- *Travel* to see amazing places
- And free healthcare for everyone! I said it.
......................................................

...we were due for a cheesy post now, weren't we? What are your wishes for the future?

Crafts on a Thursday

Hey Y'all. I just heard the sad news that the taco bell chihuahua is no longer. Here's a doggie craft in his honor: Doggie neck tie. My future dog needs one. {via Craft}

Dinner

Got another easy one for ya - it's Shrimp with Tomatoes and Olives. This was a nice, light and easy dinner to make and perfect for summer. The roasted red peppers are optional but I think they add something. And cous cous is my new favorite thing. {directions on RecipeMogul}

Save a Manse!

Recent developments on the Seattle mansion front: The Navy is selling the "Admiral's House" that is located right on Smith Cove. This manse is calling to me! It's already on a cove named after the Smiths! Cross your fingers that this property is purchased by someone who respects a good manse. {via Magnolia Voice}

Eatin' Veggie

Made these Portabello Mushroom Enchiladas that, I swear, I've had in my queue of things to make since 2006. They turned out fab! {directions on RecipeMogul}

Portland!

What a fab weekend away. So yeah, we stayed at The Kennedy School, and it was super relaxing. Adorable little rooms with "schoolhouse charm" and whimsy. The "school" is run by McMenamins, and they have a brewery on premises. A nice surprise was that they also distill their own spirits, and so all my gin & tonics were with McMenamins very own gin!

Here's the "Detention Bar", one we actually didn't stop by (we had a fabulous martini in the "Honors Bar" instead) but it's really cool looking and also is a cigar bar.
__________________________________________
The hotel has a movie theater too! It is so stinkin' cute. They have big old-timey couches and you can get pizza and beer during your movie. We saw Wolverine, a new classic.

__________________________________________
Then it was off to the Velveteria, a museum of velvet paintings. WOW. The museum is run by some very nice people who are dedicated to collecting all things fabulous and velvet. And there were some GEMS, let me tell you. Maybe the Anderson Cooper painting was my favorite? Hard to say. There were also some amazing sights in the "Black Light Room".

What would a visit to Po'land be without a stop at Voodoo Doughnut? Since the original location is a TOTAL CLUSTER and impossible, we headed not too far away to "Voodoo Doughnut (too)" which was much more attainable. And guess who ate a vegan doughnut and liked it? Yeah, they do a good thing over there.
__________________________________________
OMG you guys we also toured a lovely manse while we were there! The Pittock Mansion is an outstanding, beautiful property with plenty of mansion staples: dumwaiter, sweeping staircase, multiple rooms, majestic views, a dramatic veranda...endless! I love the ceilings in a good mansion. Not to mention the fabulous paintings of Mr. & Mrs. Pittock...and their cat.

I totally recommend Portland as a delightful weekend getaway. Although - one tip - if we go again at rush hour on a Friday we are totally taking the train to avoid all that crazy traffic!

Po'land was Awesome

Yes indeed, we stayed at The Kennedy School, and it was delightful! More pics to come, we had a great time!

Off to Portland!

Hey Y'all! We are off to Portland for the weekend! I can't wait, since this will be our first official foreals trip together. Lots of food, beer, coffee and sightseeing. Portland is such a cool city, I'm totally excited to check it out.

AOTD & some random stuff

I think you've earned yourself the title of Ultimate Do-It-Yourself Couple when you purchase Wijlre Castle, a 17th-century castle in the Netherlands, and re-landscape the entire thing. {DIY Mansion Garden}
