Spring. Is. HERE.

I'm pretty sure in Seattle they call 75 degrees "Summer", but in DC it's supposedly Spring. I'm into it! I can't believe just a few weeks ago I couldn't leave the house without at least 3 layers. The weather this weekend was seriously awesome. Although I think it's supposed to be a more normal 55 degrees this week, that is still all good with me. So much better than freezing!

I had to share a pic of the "Edible Arrangement" that Keene got for his bday. You guys - these are SO good! At first I thought they sounded like a dorky idea but now I think they're the best present ever. The fruit is really tasty and the chocolate is actually really good chocolate. We ate this thing in about two days, cuz we were fruit crazy.

The bday boy in his colors Saturday. He got a lot of "go dawgs!" comments from people as we walked around the 'hood. I had no idea so many PNW people were in this area.

Another beauty we have big dreams for. It could be so SWEET!

We got a hankerin' for some dogs from Eastern Market. Best date ever!!!

Bahamas: The Final Chapter.

You know those moments & times when you wish you could press pause? This was one of them. I wanted this beach day to last forever. It's definitely staying with me even now though. Taking this trip was so much better than any self-help book or stupid breathing exercise. I feel like the Bahama sun made it all the way to my heart and helped this bitter East Coaster thaw out a bit :)

Bahamas, Pt VII

We kindof fell in love with this bar. Well, Keene REALLY fell in love with it. And he got some play from the hot pirate wench statue. And the free wifi. The bartenders here at the old "dolphin experience" site really knew how to make an island drink. Woo!

Shark Attack!!!

Dudes. Jerk chicken. I'm pretty sure this is a Jamaica thing but they had it in the Bahamas so we were all over it. OMG - why is it so good? I loved it. Seriously, it's SO good.

Let me tell you a little story of how Keene came by this drink. First, he met a delightful gentleman named Shawn (of course while we were at Rum Runners). Shawn was very friendly and much more responsible than your average spring breaker. He was studying criminal justice and came from a long line of cops. His girlfriend was rocking a bump-it yet very intelligent as well. Don't judge a spring breaker by it's cover! These kids blended right in. Keene and Shawn became fast friends, and had a brief but meaningful bromance. Shawn brought Keene this coconut beverage as a parting gift. A token of his affection.

Bahamas, Pt VI

There came a point when we finally decided it was time to do something, and we went on a "Glass Bottom Boat Tour." It was pretty cool. We were the youngest people on this thing! No spring breakers here, folks. Just your average cruise ship vacationer from New Orleans. They were a fun bunch though. We didn't need a stupid "open bar" or rock climbing wall. I prefer fishing enthusiasts and chatty ladies!

I mean, seriously. I never get tired of goin' places with THIS GUY.

They're in at least my top 20 fave animals. I have lots of faves. The tour was just over an hour and totally worth it. We got to get out on the water and see more of the island and see fish without having to get wet (my high-maintenance-ness really liked that). :)

Bahamas, Pt V

Dang, I really do have a lot of vacation pictures to post.

I wanted to show you guys a bit more about Grand Bahama Island...so down there Conch is really popular. Like, on every menu. So of course when in the Bahamas...order conch fritters every day! They are really good. They're like hush puppies with calamari in them.


Can't let a vacation day go by...this is the fried "cracked conch." Good stuff.

And last but not least, conch salad. Made by "conch guy" (as we dubbed him), in what would be equivalent to a NY street food vendor. He just hangs out in his stand all day making conch salad. I thought it was really good but we needed beers to go with it. It's like a very lime-y ceviche. Also the tomatoes in the Bahamas were all sortof a light green and they were SO good!

"Linen 'n Things." Hey mom - they also had a little embroidery shop that you really would've liked. Go figure!

Then there were these people. She is wearing lace socks with her hooker heels. Nothing says beachwear like a gold sequined dress.
