Icebox Peppermint Yule Log

Why do I kindof want to make this? Posted the
directions on recipemogul. {via sew darn cute}

Cute Gift Tags

Cute gift tag ideas reminiscent of Ed Emberley, who is awesome, btw. {Design*Sponge}

Gadgets

Duh! Open that awful clamshell plastic packaging...with a can opener! {thanks, apartment therapy}

OMG, jeans that are secretly leggings? "XFIT" lycra? {blueprint}

LiquiSeal Travel Mug - it's a spill-proof container that lets you just click to unseal and click to seal again. I already spill a lot so this is a pretty good idea. {OXO International}

This will solve all our problems!

"A S.L.U.T. is Born"....entertaining observational post by Seattlest about the SLUT's first day out. {a slut is born}

Goat Cheese Truffles

Having a hard time finding post-worthy material today, so thought I'd post a pic of the goat cheese truffles I made at Thanksgiving. They were good, but I think next time I'd mix cream cheese and goat cheese, because just goat cheese was way too much, and too much stinky cheese.

Cute Mouse Pads

A while back I needed a new mouse pad for work (I know, cool people don't need mouse pads anymore) and they were all LAME! I didn't want a scenic beach photo or a couple of puppies.

These ones from Ann Kelle Designs are real cute:

AOTD: Yuken Teruya

My sister told me about the latest exhibit at the Western Gallery at WWU - she said that Yuken Teruya's "shopping bags" were particularly breathtaking. I don't think the pictures do these pieces justice. The show is no longer on display but it's worth keeping an eye out for Teruya's future work.

Felt Ribbon

Beautiful felt ribbon from Queen & Co. They also have a ton of awesome crafter stuff. Addicting :)

Polanoid

It's the comeback of Instant Photo - Polanoid is building the biggest Polaroid-picture-collection of the planet for Polaroid enthusiasts. They have a pretty cool "photo of the day" on their home page every day too. {polanoid.net}

Social Life Saver

Resurrect your party from the dead with these "Table Topics" cards.
A 5" cube of conversation starters that can be used as coasters or at a dinner party what-have-you. Great idea. {from Wrapables}

Mistletoe Mojito

I'm feeling festive. The usual mojito suspects - rum and mint - but instead of being topped with soda water, Pomegranate 7UP is floated on top. Garnish with pomegranate seeds. {ingredients on recipemogul}

Kitten War?

I'm sure most everyone (who's on the internet all day) has already heard of Kitten War....but in case you haven't....you can vote for cutest. Cat people are weird.

Monday

My dear friend Annie has informed me that now that I've replaced my keyboard, and it's no longer holiday vacation, I need to post something for her to "read at work". Work. Where she TEACHES OUR CHILDREN.

I neglected to take pictures of our thanksgiving due to food coma, but thankfully Abigail has shared with me some delights that she baked over the holiday.

Here is her fabulous Cassoulet:

Followed by a yummy looking Tarte Berichonne and mini apple pies a-la her son, Walter (8). [tarte berichonne recipe]

She also passed along her "11 on a scale of 10" Bolzano Apple Cake recipe for RecipeMogul. I think I need to get invited to Abigail's house next year ;)

Day Before...

Put on your stretchy pants, cuz it's on! I need those santa pants that Joey had on Friends. The results are in...

1st Place: Stuffing
2nd Place: Green Bean Casserole
3rd Place: Mashed 'Taters

...honorable forgot-to-mention: Corn Casserole! I forgot to put it on the poll! Although CC is kinda my new favorite Halloween side...

Two more days to vote....

Tuesday Links

Impressive research on chimps and short-term memory. {slatev.com}

WWU alum have to poke fun at the "world famous sculpture collection", because, well, because of man-humping-bear, mostly. But you can't ignore that a lot of it is pretty pimp. One of my favorite bloggers talks about being moved to tears simply by some Noguchi-inspired lanterns at a concert. But we got to look at Skyviewing Sculpture every day in red square.

Seattlest picks their best beer pairings for Thanksgiving. I have to argue though that Rasputin is not a good compliment to anything other than maybe....soda bread.

Always cool Seattle photos in the Seattlest Flickr Pool.

RIP Big Martha

Martha Stewart's mom, the one we can thank for crazy Martha, passed away on Friday. She was kick ass and showed emotion, unlike Martha.

50 yr pictorial history

AOTD: Mystery woman? This is weird but interesting. {Mystery}

"Yesterday at the flea market I picked up a small cosmetics case stuffed with photos almost all of which were of the same woman. The bulk of the photos were photobooths and portraits documenting her as she aged over the course of about 50 years or so."

more halloween

So, it's maybe worth taking a gander through Dooce blog's latest Chuck costumes...also the ones from last year. It's pretty impressive considering I don't think we can even get Mysty to do anything other than turn her nose up at us.
