Remember when I used to blog?

It was a long time ago, like before the cohab and I went camping weeks ago, and before Blogger decided to charge $ and make you store your photos on picasa. Guess who's switching to Wordpress as soon as she can figure out how? I am soooo over blogger.

Sigh. Moving on! Lots has happened since my last post, including the cohab n' I went camping!

I present to you, our camp site:
Isn't it cute? And oh my, just a bit further from our site, was the "group site", which was breathtaking! You Guys: perfect spot for a giant camping trip! Just look at that view!
It even came complete with cool stumps.

We got ambitious one night and grilled chicken and asparagus - turned out soooo good! Maybe it was the Uno that we played I won that made it even better.

Lake Sylvia :)

Ok so you guys: one morning we thought we'd go for a walk on some of the trails. Turns out it was a much longer walk than anticipated! It was totally worth it though - we ran into some cool stuff, like this blade from the old saw mill with a tree growing around it.

This was where we got a bit concerned. Thanks so much, helpful signage.

Go towards the light!

Peace to the forest!

Organic lace :)

Not lost yet. We're still confident.

Pretty...

Orangutan-esque moss...

a wee little fern. I got arty farty.

Fungus amungus!

The camping "look"

bells

there be the damn!

Thistle. Say it with me: "thistle". It's fun to say isn't it?

Omg guys I want to go back right now! It was so quiet and peaceful out there. I love that campfire smell. In fact, I think my hair STILL smells like it.

The Wilderness - What a Thrill!

The cohab and I are going camping! I'm super excited since we've only been camping a few short trips together so far. I'm gonna be a real Wilderness Girl! (couldn't help it - and side-note, why don't I have a friggin' cape yet?!)

A lil' weekend re-cap

Ladies night, whaaa?! A fabulous couple of friends of ours were in town over the weekend and guess what? They're married getting married soon! Anyway, the dudes went out for a guys night so naturally we jumped on the opportunity to trump them and go out for a girls night. Personally, I think ours was better ;)

First things first we had to go for pedicures at Madison Park Spa. Loooove that place.
Then it was on to Cactus on Alki for dinner. The weather did not cooperate but the prickly pear mojitos did!
I got the crab tomales and outed myself as a nerd to everyone at the table by taking pictures of my food...

Cactus was fab but we were on a mission so we went on a West Seattle Pub Crawl. We're almost 30 so you know it was hardcore. First we hit up Shadowland, where we had awesome cocktails and saw the most beautiful couple in Seattle. Where did they come from?!?!

Of course the night would not have been complete without a dive bar. At Rocksport we got to listen to some fantastically inspired Karaoke and watch this couple over my shoulder hug for a half an hour:
Super, SUPER weird.

We tried not to make eye contact with anyone at Rocksport and had a great time. Capped the night off with some When Harry Met Sally and a bit of wine. All in all, great ladies night! Thanks for getting married, Kate! :)

A Bit of a Re-Cap:

The Bar Exam is over. My cohab studied like a madman and wrote 24 essays in 2.5 days. And now he's free! So this weekend we went out to celebrate with some people who also deserve a lot of credit for his success: his 'rents. They took us to John Howie Steak in Bellevue. That place was OFF THA HOOK good. Oy I was dying.

Take a gander at this spread...just the amuse buche they brought out was AHMAZING.
And a salt tier? White, pink, black salt. The black salt was the fave at our table, but I liked the pink.
Scrimps. SO GOOD! Perfect spiciness! I would go back just for these.
Heirloom Tomato Salad. Just look at it. It's a rainbow. It was to die for.
The chowder/bisque. Keene's parents said this was "the best soup they've ever had". Seriously.
My filet mignon "french onion style" - fabulous.
Lobstah tail. I helped Keene finish a ton of this. How did that happen?
Steak Salad - look how huge this is!
Cheesecake. It was good, but everything else was so awesome it really out shined it.
After I win the lottery we're going here every day!

The celebrating/recovery did not stop all weekend. Keene and I took my baby Mysty to The Totem for some grub. Mysty was cracking me up with her whole head out the window looking windblown in the morning fog.
So dramatic!
Thick bacon is BACK, baby.
Also lots of people in my life are movin' on up in the world! We helped our cute newleywed friends move to everybody's favorite new neighborhood, West Seattle. Here's Ally and Brandon and their dog Charlie :)
Ok and today I totally forgot to document but friends from DC, David and Stephi were in town and we  had brunch at Pike Place! I'd never been to the Athenian but after today I'm thinking that it's my new fave. I miss our East Coast buddies, it was so good to catch up with them (they are also recent bar exam survivors).

Y'all it was a busy busy weekend full of good friends and times. What was your favorite thing you did this weekend?
