No I did *not* forget to post today, thankyouverymuch!

Hey Guys. How is everyone's Monday coming along?

Well I was thinking why don't I do a little housekeeping and catch up on pics of dinners past that I haven't blogged yet...so, let's start with: How do you use up stuff in your fridge? Answer = it's Mealoaf, Y'all! I just leaned on the ole KitchenAid to do the heavy mixing (I hate touching raw meat). Then I took a lil' inspiration from NoPoMo and tried some "cauliflower rice" - it turned out pretty good. Used our cuisinart to dice all of it up, and sauteed it with salt, pepper, sage, butter & milk. And topped it with cheese cuz I can't help myself.
Not bad, amiright?!

How about What do you make for dinner when you have no time/ingredients/energy? Answer= You go to Eat Local and pick up something yummy that is already prepared and just needs to bake. For instance: Beef Bourguignonne...
Also really tasty! Note to self: register for white plates! Soooo tired of looking at my photos with this damn plate pattern in all of them...

PLANTS UPDATE: We got these "Aqua Globes" with a Woot! grab bag. I'll let you know how they work out. Basil seems to dig it so far :)
Rosemary and Lavender had to upgrade to larger containers (too early for them to go outside around here...chilly still!). I took these cans that used to be diced tomato cans and I painted them. The lighting in this pic is bad but I think for $Free.99 these turned out pretty cute.
Parsley is such an overachiever.
Here's to a fantastic week!

BBQ Time - not really but almost.

First BBQ o' the Season. Still cold out, but hell, not freezing so it's totally ON! Went over to our friends, The Logan's, for a birthday bbq that included lots of good food, people, kiddos and dogs. What a good time! We brought a little taste o' Italy...

Proscuitto e Melone:
Although, I'm pretty sure people would've been jazzed about just the "melone" part...

Also they've made this awesome Wall Chalkboard Calendar:
Doesn't it look remarkably just like the one on Apartment Therapy? Well done, dudes :)
Hope all Y'allz are having an excellent weekend! :)

It's Spring...kindof?

Aren't these tulips *gorgeous*?! We just picked them up and I love the color. We're hoping to make it up to Mt. Vernon soon to check out the all the tulips.

1980's Barbies: A BIG Part of my childhood

YOU GUYS: I stumbled upon this Flickr Pool of 1980's Barbies and OMG does this Bring Me Back!!! Seriously. I was super into Barbies. Me an my nabes would combine our Barbie assets and create a giant Barbie land. I never actually scored a Barbie House, but in retrospect I think that was much more fun and better for my imagination. Good times, Good times....

Check it out: it's Perfume Pretty Barbie. I had her and I think I had Perfume Giving Ken, and my nabes had Perfume Pretty Whitney.

I think my neighbor had Peaches n' Cream Barbie...
ONE of my friends had this "Magic Moves Barbie" fo' sho. I remember that giant aqua fur thing...
My nabes had "Loving You Barbie" - remember this outfit?!?
I VIVIDLY remember this necklace. It was, in my mind, a really awesome piece. I thought I'd scored big with this bling.
I had "Day to Night Barbie", "Crystal Barbie", and I know a friend had the one on the far right, "Dream Glow Barbie". I was jealous.
Barbie and the Rockers! I think I had the pink one, and Shannon had the Red Headed one and that Ken. Or maybe Shannon had all of these. We might've mixed Jem and Barbies back then. So wrong!
I don't know why I was soooo into Barbies, really. Maybe it was the outfits? We always made up elaborate General-Hospital-style stories for our Barbies. And we'd spend DAY 1 of Playing Barbies just setting up "Barbie's Apartment". Good times.

Dog: Check!

Yesterday we met this sweet lil' lady and brought her home!
Her name is "Pearl" and she's a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix (we think). She is only 6 months old so still a bit puppy-like but very loving and well behaved! She spent most of her life outside in Yakima when the police found her, and a NW rescue group brought her out here.
We knew she was the right dog for us because she was so friendly and happy when we met her yesterday. Her and I already went on a lil' jog/walk this morning and she did great! We saw a German Shepherd that was practicing "wait" with flying colors and I told Pearl that's who she'll be looking up to - we're hoping to get into some canine behavior classes so she can use her skillz! (She brought Keene ONE slipper this morning, we'll work up to her bringing the pair of them :)

Dinner Date

Sometimes ya just feel like going to Whole Foods, buying a bunch of GOOD LOOKING stuff and making it for dinner. And maybe you buy some hippie soaps and fancy cheese and wine and all sorts of other things you don't need. But that's what a Whole Foods does to a person, amiright?

Friday night menu: pan seared sea scallops (rubbed w/love) over Parisian wild rice, with a side of roasted asparagus.
Woo!
Fancy cheddar & out of season strawberries for appetizer/dessert :)

Awesome Spaces

Who doesn't want to just stare wistfully at some "Awesome Spaces" all day? Especially if you live in the PNW where we don't get warmer temperatures until June sometimes it seems! (ready for a real Spring around here)...

Recognize? It's our own Mt. Vernon...

School'd

Y'all: I really almost missed my first day of school today. HOW?!? It's weird, I've already had several nightmares about my first day (I'm going to take a web class) and I didn't even check to make sure I knew for sure the day class started. Good thing a friend tipped me off at the last minute that they start today! Yikes. Wish me luck. Haven't been back in almost a decade...I hope to be that annoying old overachiever person in the class. Not the old dumb person though that can't use a computer or relate to anyone. I sortof get how that person feels now: I mean, if I can't get a good grade in this class, how can I ask anyone to pay me for what I do? Foreals.

ANYWAY...who's down for some distraction? Easter-Entertaining-Style!
